시대를 뛰어넘는 명곡 'Hotel California'의 주인공으로 전설의 세계적인 4인조 록밴드 'EAGLES(이글스)'는 미국 팝 역사상 최고의 밴드로 칭송 받고 있다.

박은석 대중음악 평론가는 "이글스는 흔히 '가장 미국적인 밴드'로 꼽힌다. 그래서 이글스가 우리나라에서도 인기가 있다는 사실은 얼핏 모순이라고 느껴지기도 한다. 그들을 제외하고 포크와 컨트리에 뿌리박은 미국적인 사운드의 록 밴드가 대한민국에서 괄목할만한 인기를 누린 예는 거의 없기 때문이다. 심지어는 브루스 스프링스틴 조차도 말이다.

그런 점에서 이글스의 음악에는 언어와 장르의 벽을 넘어서는 어떤 보편성이 있다고 할 것이고, 이번 내한공연은 그 매력적인 흡인력을 눈으로 확인하는 자리가 될 것이다"고 공연에 대한 기대감을 높였다.

이글스는 전 세계적으로 1억 2천 만장의 앨범 판매, 총 6번의 그래미 어워드 수상, 5곡의 빌보드 싱글차트 1위 기록을 보유한 세계적인 그룹이다. 1998년에는 로큰롤 명예의 전당(Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) 공연(Performance) 부문도 올랐으며, 76년도에 발표한 [Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975] 앨범은 2,900만장의 판매고를 올리며 전 세계에서 가장 많이 팔린 앨범으로 기록되고 있다.

아울러 마지막 앨범 이후 28년 만인 2007년에 발매한 이글스의 7번째 앨범 [Long Road Out Of Eden]은 첫 주에만 70만 장이 넘게 판매, 빌보드 앨범차트 1위를 기록했으며, 이 앨범의 첫 곡 'How Long'은 2008년 그래미 어워드를 수상했다.
